100 series L/C Rims

Hi,
I have a 2001 100 Series Diesel L/C RV model with the standard R/V very narrow rims. I have been looking at replaceing them with 16 x 8 steel rims from a 100 series GXL.
Someone told me that as my L/C has a live front axle and the GXL has IFS the rims are different and will not fit. (something to do with the offset of the rim)
This all sound a bit wierd to me, does anyone out their know if this is true?
