check out this mob: www.4wdhire.com.au

available all over oz and have very well decked out vehicles for not that much more than an Avis Cruiser with poxy suspension/tyres, no accessories and anal staff.

I've just booked one of their camper cruisers for Alice in Sept and have found them to be very good to deal with - beats driving 3000kays each way from Canberra for a two-week hol as I did last year...including 3000kays in less than two days on the way back!

that's great if you've got two weeks Eric, but if you're trying to coordinate three blokes from different parts of the country for one week, this is a good option - hiring for 5 days shared between 3 people is quite cost-effective. And the flights to get there and back were less than the fuel it cost me to drive there last year - and that doesn't account for tyre wear etc...

Pathfinder
friends of ours did the same thing last year when we went to cape - it went really well. Just a tip - they had one with the fridge , everything else and a roof top tent . They said if they were going to do it again it may have been cheaper to but a cheap dome and matress - saving on the rooftent hire (just an option)

have a good time

I just got back from a trip to the Cape. I drove my car up and a friend hired a troopy up there for $120 a day. We used meteor car hire in Cairns, snorkle, unlimited KM, no restriction on where we could go and they threw in a second spare.

The troopy went really well and gave us no trouble at all. Took it down gunshot and all.

Cheers

Just got back from our 8 week Kimberley adventure. We saw this mobs vehicles everywhere! Obviously quite a few around and those i spoke to were very satisfied customers.

Enjoy your trip!
