I know there are a few around, these ghost towns that you drive through and no one lives there anymore. But is there a book out there that has a list on them with details on the towns, why they where there, when they got built and abandon?

Just looking for an interesting read and they fascinate me

thanks

Don't know of any book or guides, but yes I also have a fascination for the history of abandoned towns and facilities. You often wonder about what went on there and what the real story was. Some can feel a bit surreal.

Ghost Towns of Australia by George Farwell. I think most recent printing was a revised edition in 1980. Haven't read it, so not sure if it is any good.

A more recent one is Australian Ghost Towns by Barry McGowan, released in 2002.
