Hi, Can anyone tell me if the road leading to Eighty mile Beach Caravan park is accesable by a normal car or is it only 4 wheel driveable. I read that its a gravel road but unsure how bad it is. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Tony

Half the vehicles in the park were cars.

No worries..

Port Smith, sth of Broome, just north of LaGrange/Bidyadanga, is also a nice place to stay, similar grade of road in off the hwy (2wd).
Caravan park also provides loan of a wire hook for chasing muddies.

Hi Brian

Have a good time in NZ? Looks like it. Now I am not a fishing person but those fish look good enough to eat :o)

Hi Willem,
Just finished reading your report on your trp this year what a great read took me back a bit, as have travelled that way when i lived in Port Hedland in from 1969-71 also drove from Dawin to Perth on my own in 1968 which was quite a trip in those days as you would know. No none of the fish get eaten all go back, would much rather eat steak got 98 over 2lb last season cant wait to get back.
We used to fish at the mouth of the De Gray river back in the 60's but when i was over there last year it was all wire up, i wonder how much smaller the sountry is now to what is was then.
Meet the wife at the Pier Hotel Port Hedland and that stopped the wanderings for a while.
