Hello All,
Some time back, I think on this
forum someone posted some URL's pointing to a particular
York air conditioning compressor. It was very suitable as an air compressor on a 4wd.
I've not been able to find the thread in the archives and was hoping whoever posted the links could do it again..
Geoff.

as above re Fords and early Chryslers (valiants)....one of these were just re-badged yorks
3 models. 206, 209, 210.......these numbers in model # somewhere
206 is 6 cubic inch displacement and 209 is 9 and 210 is 10 cubic inch displacement.
as they run ball bearings on the crank shaft they can get spinning up to 7000rpm but you wont need this. one of the bearings you cant get as a spare as it made especially for
york (a division of borg warner)...cant remember if it was rear or front.....
remembr tossing heaps of spares out years ago to write off inventory for
York.....still got some spares in the shed somewhere.....
should be able to get from wreckers

also these comps can be laid on their side as
well as vertical......have 4 threaded holes on both sides and bottom to accommodate both positions
Plug on side of crank case is for checking oil level...use stright dipstick if on side or bend stick to into slight arc to measure if in vertical position.
Kirby Refrigeration (now heatcraft) also produced a steel (crank case) look alike

A lot of Volvos used
york compressors.
The difference between Ford and Volvo was Ford used a flywheel on the compressor otherwise the same. If you don't tell anyone that it came off a Volvo they can't hang sh-- on you.
Surprising what you can use off them though.
A/C compressor, power steering box and pump, gear shift lever for auto all came off a 240 and bolt straight onto my F100.
I am now in the process of fitting A/c/heater unit into Effie.
