After hearing stories of the mullaway that lurk around the beaches near Yalata supposedly in plauge proportins in the middle of summer, I have decided to take a trip out there when out on break probably mid feburary.
Has any one been out to these beaches? any info would be appreciated (for instance the garanteed spots) TA

Nothing is ever guaranteed Davoe. A mate from work has been last 2 years in jan for a week at a time and got one 50lber.Lots of sharks and other fish to catch. remember this is one hot mother of a place in summer and no alcohol allowed in most areas. But lots of fish are caught each summer.

Keen fisherman so I realise the garantee thing was a joke because i know when i get there there will be blokes sitting around with huge paddle tails hanging out of eskies saying "oh mayyyyte you shoulda been here yesterday" Heat shouldnt be a problem on the beach at least as with most southern oceaon spots in summer the biggest problem is 30 to 40 knot on shore south westerlies. Forgot about it being Aboriginal controlled land now though - the no alcohol just doesnt seem right for a fishing trip, Still if sober might even care enough to try and catch smething

Disregard what Davoe said about heat being a problem, have been there 45degree heat with the northerlys blowinging . Very uncomfortable but good for mulloway. Been there 5 years straight at the right time of year. Luck of the draw. Could get nothing, especially with strong southerly/southe easterlies blowing in your face. Not even any sharks and salmon. Been there other times at right moon phases, 6 over 30 pounds in period of a couple of hours.

Regardless, there are heaps of spots to catch feeds of fish - whiting, snook, tommies, salmon, sharks, flathead, tailor occasionally, yellowtail kingfish can be seen cruising around the rocks, (need 50lb line on 24kg game rods at a minimum) and 20lb snapper from the surf. Seen an estimated 80lm kingie crusining under the jetty Fowlers Bay. Lots of lost tackle. Is a great place. You just need the good weather - northerlies, n/e or n/w suit best, usually coincide with very hot weather. Having said that, caught 40lber 20m out from shore (about as far as I could cast with 40 knot winds in my face (southerly or similar) . Best time day before full moon and a few days after.

Best spots vary. Dog fence beach, Yalata beaches, Scotts beach (Fowlers Bay), and other surrounding beaches of Fowlers all produce. Check local servos/kiosks etc for the latest and fish what they recommend. They generally don't fish themselves and so don't give a damn if you go and get some fish, and they are the ones that hear all the news.

Go for it, great place to be even if you don't catch a 50 lb'er. Good months months Oct - Feb,, best months Nov-Dec-Jan when warm currents are at their best. Get a charter into the islands and get into Tuna, Sampsons, snapper, hug Salmon, even Dolphin Fish.

ahhhhhhhh Northelies dare to dream I have experienced them with the wind at your back but they can be very rare especially in summer and generally dont last long as it heralds the westerly then the south westerly and strong wind warnings, the bane of every fishing trip. have been Fowlers way before but that was in a 2wd still got onto great rock fishing to the west of fowlers. I can relate what you say about the heat when i was there it was as hot as hell with clear skys when a huge thunderstorm came out of nowhere and flooded all the roads - only just made it out. Fished alot on the upper EP where the n/e are at your back if you can get em. Personell best was a 22pound snapper (weighed at the Venus bay store) from about 3k down the beach at talia.
AAAAHHHHHHHHH talking about it cant wait!!!
