Hi Guys,

I'm looking around at a new 4WD, i was hoping for something around the size of a forester but something more capable for serious 4WD tracks. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas. I don't mind doing any mods at all.

Cheers, ToNy!

Go and pick yourself up a Prado. You can't go wrong.
You can get earlier ones now at quite affordable prices.
I know of one 97/98 RV with 172 k on it for 15 grand.
They will do everything the bigger ones will.

Tony,

Go have a drive of a Terracan, I've had mine for 14 months and it represents excellent value for money and is the real deal off road (with decent tyres and a bit of lift).

Cheers,

Jim.

Forgot to mention the Kia Sorento, a little smaller than the Terracan with similar mechanicals (ex Mitsubishi). Very good off road according to test reports and has coil springs up front which will allow more lift than the Terracan's torsion bars.

You can get into either for under 40 and they're well appointed.

HiTony,

There is a write up on 4x4's in this months 4x4 monthly magazine.

It compares prado, pajero, terrican & sanyong (all in diesel version)

Maybe this article may steer you in the right direction.

Are you looking at new or 2nd hand, and how much is your budget? This info may help with feedback from others

Thanks
