There is a book available called, 'Holidaying with Dogs'. I told my girlfriend this but she didn't believe me until I showed her! Anyway you can get it from any bookshop. It lists camping grounds, caravan parks and other 'dog friendly' places to stay. I travelled (slowly) from Victoria up to Queensland and stayed at places in the book without a problem. I did have to plan a bit where I was going to stay and always phoned ahead to make sure. Check it out.

I too had a black lab, whilst i was in vic we always camped near water..... one of my favorite places was sheep yard flats. it can get busy....in the hollidays. It was mentioned on the series " A River Somewhere" If you like Flyfishing it is also a good place to go. The place itself is on the way to Mt Hotham from melb, Its been a while but i think it is signposted of the main road.... there is heaps of space for the @%#$*!#^ poo bag to run wild........ Oh and there are Toilets too....
