This radio is for sale on the VKHAM website which is a targeted at Amateur Radio operators.

I have no idea what a Codan 8525 is or if $500 is a good price - so don't ask or blame me :)

Mike, the 8525 is a 99 chan 100w eprom programable set. Made in the 80's, parts are getting a bit scarce now. They are usually a rock solid set that give few problems.
They come in two flavours, local and remote.
A LSB xtal can be installed for amateur use, but their is no vfo type function for amateur operation. The biggie is whether they have selcall installed (a $400 option when new and hard to find boards these days).
8525s didnt have the telcall option, and can't really be used on a phone interconnect (unless its an old Radphone 2000 system)
A good 25 in excellent condition programmed with 737 etc would be worth from say $400-$500 going by past sales.
Despite their age they are still a good basic set for the 4wd market.

I agree - I've had one for 7 or 8 years with only one problem - at which point I discovered codan no longer made parts for the 8525 (luckily the repair bloke had one on the shelf he could cannibalise to fix mine). They're a good set - anything thats bounced around in a landrover for years with no problems has to be tough!! (like me I reckon ;-))
Cheers,
Alex
