G'day All
Bit of a stupid question but might as
well ask the people in the know.
What oil would you recommend for an 80 Series Landcruiser Turbo Diesel ?
Cheers

All the oil companies have a lube guide on their websites.
A 15W40 CF grade or higher is what most people use for the 1HDT and 1HDFT(E) motors.
There is ongoing debate about the earlier 1HDT (1990-'94) which suffered big end bearing failures. Some reckon a Japanese spec diesel engine oil prevents this from happening. In any case, if yours is from this vintage, you need to know whether the big ends have been changed, and if not, get on and do it.
Cheers
Phil

We have been getting some good results with Valvoline super diesel installing it in customers cars, 4wd's and trucks at work.

Hi Catchy,
One of the major 4WD service centres here in
Adelaide uses Penrite Euro 15 for all turbo diesels. It's a semi-synthetic and up there as far as the specs go and comes on 20 litre drums for around $90. I used it in my 1HZ 100 series for the first time just recently so hopefully it's the good oil.
Cheers
Gerry
