Hi,

Anyone got an idea of what the running gear of a 4x4 camper would weigh?? So from the ground up to the chassis.

Hi,

Bit of a tough question to answer exactly, but I can tell you that I got a galv 7 x 4 off road trailer built, and it weighed 340kg empty.

I got it built with with brakes, and rated at 1200kg.

When I load it with stuff to go camping, it weighed approx 600kg.

I recently had a camper tent installed including annex and new weight loaded for a trip is approx 700kgs.

Hope this helps

Thanks

How can a trailer be 4 x 4 when has no drive train? 4 x 4 means 4 wheels be driven at the same time through the same drive train (diffs and axles). Trailers do not have diffs or drive trains.

What is running gear? On my bicycle it is the wheels, brakes, gears and pedals.

I suppose the original and poorly thought original post is evidenced by your response. Poorly thought out, except for the selected use of symbols to keep the moderator's scent off.

Perhaps you could have tried by explaining what you mean by running gear. In other circles it is called the undercarraige..

Another, how long is that string question....if running gear means the wheel size, axle, brakes, etc, then it all depends on the size of the trailer, the axle and suspension type, and a whole range of other variables....but that thought obviously didn't occur before the typing started........

Wouldn't it have been far more logical to contact an off -road (oh sorry 4x4) trailer manufacturer...Ummm maybe too embarrassing...

T@sser..perhaps..cretin..no
