We were planning to camp at Woody Head at Easter, near Iluka in NSW, but it is already booked out. Would anyone know of any other camp sites around this area which may be worthwhile checking out. There will be a few smaller children going so the parents want a site with some amenities, showers, etc.
Regards,
Simon.

Simon
Theres a great camping ground at Brooms head which is about 45 mins south of Iluka. It's right on the beach full amenities, great fishing and swimming and has beach access for 4wd. Theres a local shop which has everything including grog and theres a bowls club if you are feeling like a night out on the town. For day trips you can head to sandon river which is about 30 mins south (you'll see the dirt road as you drive in to Brooms Head) magic beach with 4wd access and excellent fishing. Sandon river does have a camping ground but is very small and is always booked out. It also has a boat ramp.

Cheers
Duncan....

Some nice sites in Yuraygir National Park, east of Grafton. Check http://www.npws.nsw.gov.au/parks/north/Nor059.html. There's pit toilets but no showers, unfortunately.

Thanks for those suggestions, Brooms Head sounds like the one for us, always handy to have a grog shop and bowlo nearby. I will keep those other sites in mind for next time.

Simon.

We camped at Sandon River last February, lovely place but sandflies very much a problem. Moved camp to Redcliff/Lake Arragan, no sandflies. Beautiful spot, very peaceful outside of school holidays. Planning on staying in Illaroo (WoodyHead) in January.
