Hi Folks,
Can anyone give me advice on the route from Mt Augustus to Paraburdoo via Pingandy and Ashburton Downs? Travelling in a td GU Patrol with offroad C/T.
The route seems feasible on the Hema Pilbara map but some experienced advice would be appreciated.
Many thanks.

the track itself is not a problem - used to play around there on m/bikes many years ago and was up there last dry season. check with the people at mt augustus as sometimes the gates are closed especially if mustering about to commence or is underway. there are a couple of deep holes if it's been raining but otherwise not a problem. for somethinga bit different do the western side of the kennedy ranges - before the hordes find out.................rgds
Slow down and relax......

Not a problem with that road.

It is a public access route via Dooley Downs Outstation and Pingandy Station. Then via Ashburton Downs the road is good.

We got stuck 15km from Mt Augustus in May when a sudden downpour stopped our progress south and we had to backtrack out to the Ashburton Road

Hi Jon,

I travelled it last week (Paraburdoo - Mt Augustus - Mullewa) and had a fantastic time. Got back last night, so I am still sorting out all our data, but I am hoping to have a trek note up later this week/early next week (after I catch up on everything!)

My only advice is watch some of the floodways - some are fine, but some of the others are a bit rough (the trek note will have the serious ones). Most of the way is very well signposted.

Just note that this is no Caravan Park at Paraburdoo (some maps and the internet say differently).

Willem, the rain you experienced has bought out masses of wildflowers - very pretty and great to see.

Enjoy your trip, hope you make it up the mountain!

Regards,
Juliana

HI
Is this road possible in a Subaru Outback? Expect to be around there in September.
