I Have just read the info regarding solar charging & alternator charging. I have tried to find someone local who understands what is likely to happen regarding the undercharging of batteries from an alternator & nobody (this includes auto electricians) is able to tell me where I can buy a smart charger/ regulator as mentioned in the article about AGM batteries. We will have a start battery isolated by a BEP VSR to a 100amp hr. house battery & then linked to 140 amphr battery bank in a camper trailer. Can anyone help with where to buy & approx. cost. We live in East Gippsland Vic. or a company in Vic that understands what I am trying to achieve.

I am not sure about whats in VIC, but go to www.12volt.com.au.
These guys here in
Perth know everything about AGM batteries and also 3 and 5 stage chargers.
You will have to spend at least $250 for a 5 stage charger from memory.
I purchased two good chargers from these guys and also some deep cycle batteries so that I an charge both from my generator and while driving on the road with a 12 volt charger.
An alternator can not charge a battery much over 75%, which is no good.
If you are using your battery for
camping you need it fully charged with a proper charger.
I have just come back from a months holiday, and with my 215ah deep cycle battery and 5 stage charger I get min 5 days usage from it.
I have a 17" caravan with a 40LT wackeo, tv,
water pump and a number of lights. If you purchace the right gear you will not be disapointed.
Good luck
