I am considering using a HX4700 in an Arkon mount with the built in GPS etc. I notice that the mount is a single suction cup to the windscreen. This sounds great as I could easily move it between vehicles.

However, using just one cup, does it vibrate on gravel roads etc or does it remain steady? Can it by put on the windscreen such that the bottom is resting on the dash for stability?

Thanks

Alan

Previously had an Ipaq 3600 with Navman GPS sleeve running Oziexplorer mounted onto the windscreen with a single suction cap. Only problem I had was that the suction cap base let go from the mount arm on a Simpson crossing but I pushed it back in tight and it hasn't let go since. The Ipaq got knocked off and I jerried up an an old Ipaq sleeve onto the mount arm and now run a Dell Axiom with the same software and a bluetooth GPS receiver. Vibration never seemed to be an issue

I've found that when its sitting on the dash it causes lockups and problems because of the hard jarring it gets.
I have an arm type pda holder with suction cup attaching to the windscreen. I have it shaped so that the arm goes down from the suction cup, to the dash (braces the suction cup against the dash kindof), then back up so it rests about 2" above the dash where the PDA sticks on (mine attaches with a magnet and has NEVER come off - makes it really easy to put on and take off quickly). The 30cm or so of arm acts as a kind of shock obsorber. Since setting it up like that I've never had the thing lock-up and I use it for both music and gps.

It does vibrate and jolt but when its doing that so am I so it evens out ;-P
