Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend someone to repair/service a Warn winch in the Canberra area. If not the Canberra area I am happy to consider other places - I have heard of a place called (I think) Winchdoctor, but could not find any contact details, also believe from previous posts there is another good place in Melbourne?

I think have a pretty common problem, stiff clutch lever and unable to free spool. Given the high loads and critical nature of a winch, I prefer to have a "professional" look at it rather than tinker myself!

Thanks in advance, and have a good weekend.

Cheers,
Jezza!MPG:8!

G'day Jezza,

When I lived in Yass, I had my Warn serviced by Nash Off-Road......seemed to do a good job.

Cheers

Nash is OK.

Not cheap , but certainly does a good job on his mechanical stuff.

Another that may do winches is Monaro Offroad in Queanbeyan.

Jezza,

What model is the winch? I assume its a warn low mount and if so I would assume by your description that the planetary gears and the grease & oil they sit in has been contaminated with water. There is no rocket science in removing the end gear housing and the planetary/sun gears and cleaning all these and reassembling.

If you would like I can write some step by step instructions on how to do this part of the rebuild and post here.

Regards,

Stuart M.

Hi Stuart,

It's a Warn 9000lb low mount winch. If you are happy enough to post the instructions, I'll give them a read and see if I am up to it!!

Thanks for your generous offer.

Cheers
Jezza
