hi all, i rang a bob jane dealer today to get a price on some tyres. im after a set of goodyear wrangler m/t 32/10.50r15. they told me $350 each. but for the same tyre but 31/10.50r15 are $218 can any one explain why theres over $100 difference for going up a size ? and do i gain that much by going to the 32's. and how much does it change ya speedo reading. if any.thanks.

Jim - ring around for prices. I just fitted a set of new 265/70R16 BFG ATs to my patrol the prices ranged from a low of $272 ea to a high of $325. Re the affect of different size tyres there is a calculator on the Land Rover Club of ACT site at this address
http://www.lrc.org.au/4wdstuff/tyre.htm - just copy and paste the url into your internet explorer.
Cheers
Pete

Gday Jim M
I am at the moment pricing Good Year MTR's in the 265/75x16 and they have ranged from $329.00 down to $282.00.
Still not sure if 282 is good or not but it does tell me to keep shopping.
Off the mark a bit but if anybody could compare $282.00 for 265/75x16's in the MTR's would be great?
In answer to your question it will probably put your speedo out a few km and lose a fraction of grunt off the mark resulting in a gain at top end speed.
Cheers

Mine were $247 for that size. Beaurepaires had them on special at the
Adelaide camping and 4Wd show. No one else coluld come close to that price. This was about 3 months ago from memory. My speedo was 8km/h out with the old tyres (265/70R16), it is now 4 kph out at 100 kph.

Are they 32/11.5R15 or 32/10.5R15?
I would say it might be because it is an odd/ not a popular size and as they might not sell many they put the price up to cover the cost of making them in the first place
You will gain ½ inch in hight and the Speedo will be out by a few of k’s or it might make it accurate as most Speedo’s are a few k’s out anyway.

31x10.5x16 bridgstone duellers 694s ATs $1200 fitted at trade price ,is also a tire with less plys on sidewall and 6mm less tread depth ,, supply and demand ? go figure.

I got the price of tyres off offroad
shop and then took these prices to beaurepairs. I didnt mention that I'd have to
fork out a few hundred for postage, fitting and balancing of these, but beaurepairs dropped their price to within $7 per tyre. Sounded good to me considering they came down $50 per tyre from their original quote especially as I was getting 6 and getting that valuable local warranty.
