New Primary Battery

Hi all, need to replace main battery.
Short version is, wife's Commodore needs a new battery, so I thought I would transfer the nearly new one from the Rodeo and get myself a new heavy duty, really big, lasts a long time, will run the fridge for a week, kind of battery.
Dual battery is not an option at this time.
So, suggestions on what battery to get are required please.
It will obviously be the main and ONLY battery in the Rodeo. We don't need a lot from it, I just thought I would take the opportunity to get a decent one that I don't have to worry when using the compressor or running a couple of lights of it etc.
What are your thoughts?

Yuasa Overlander - sizeable case - 700 CCA's - 2 year warranty I think - runs my Jack nicely and the Jack is thirsty on amps.... about $140.... been good to me.

The sky is the limit here....thesame size as what you put in the commodore...best is Optima,($300) cheapest would be a Korean made battery,($50) somewhere inbetween is a value for money jobbie....maybe a marine battery if you want it to run a fridge aswell at times....

Hi I've been using the Exide Extreme batt's for a while now. In yacht and car (Patrol) They seem quite good. And are starting and deep Cycle combined.
4 on boat are nearly 5 years old now. and still going
well (solar)
About $140ea. the last 2 ..
Can't see the point in buying the fancy/expensive ones. When a good Lead Acid, does the same job. Unless you in competition and tend to lay the car over now and then

I've just put 2 x 550CCA 105Amp/hr Calicum-Calcium batteries in the surf, they are only about $120 inc GST and will do both Cranking and Deep Cycle Work. So far so good with them, not quite as much "punch" as the old 770CCA I had but still starts it on a 0c morning after a nights
camping and gives me much more run time that before with the added advatage of the calcium batteries dehydrating less quickly that the normal lead acid variety.

I've had the overlander in my cruiser for 5 years it's about had it now but still going. Am definitely getting another one when it goes. I'm pretty sure Battery World have them as
well as some other

Does anyone use an AGM battery as the primary battery? Disadvantages?
To my reckoning, they are better against vibration, charge better, don't mind being discharged as much etc, etc. So long as you can get the Cranking Amps out of them, I can see no reason why an AGM primary battery wouldn't be the go.
An Overlander (which is the sort of thing I was looking at) are around $140. An AGM is going to be around $250. Not sure of comparative amp hours, but that's going by similar physical size that will fit into the Rodeo.

I did the same as Macka and have had no problems. I rigged up a ;ow battery alarm just in case I suck too hard while
camping. Hasn't gone off yet.

The highest capacity batteries for size are the helical wound plate jobs like the Optima or Exide Orbital. Neither of these is cheap but you get what you pay for...

Smocky, hows that Repco gas fridge going mate? As for batteries about 6mths ago I put a Delkor Calcium battery in the Patrol from"the battery Store" $160 delivered and fitted (Syd metro). I think it's 710CCA from memory and a big AH number (can't rmember). Kind of a 1/2 way house to an AGM IMHO, so far so good.

well on gas, don't use it on 12v.
Thanks for the info about the battery. I'm still investigating, but don't want to get a $300 optima battery. I think an AGM battery or perhaps a Calcium battery may be a better option.
