I want to replace the front seats in my 97 Explorer as they are the most uncomfortable things i have ever sat in! Anyone know if any other seats can fit straight in without welding etc?

Uncomfortable! What are you talking about I recon they are grate.

I don’t like your chance’s of finding something else that will bolt strait in thou. modifications will be needed.

If the seat bases are flat bottom (seat not rails) then you shouldnt have too large a problem. Unfortunately most cars/4bys have the rails built into uneven seats.

Even if the bases are are flat and you grab a replacement seat...you will still have to mod slightly at least. There is no way the mounting holes will line up!

I have replaced many seats over the years and nearly all (even the easy ones) require some adaptor that mates the seat base to the cars rails and slides.

I have some Autotechnica ones for sale in the Trader that I just pulled out of my MU (same as Rodeo). I just made up a square frame out of flat bar and then welded twospacer blocks on the low side so it would sit flat on the original slides. Worked perfectly and still incorporated all the quick tilts and rear foot release!

Goodluck

Matt.
