Hi Ang.
I have some info unfortunatly.
We arrived on the site a few mins after the event. Others had allready gotten the the victems out so we were spared that part. How they did it I don't know as we could not get within 20 mt of the cars for the heat.
We were of little help as the emergency services were on site in what seemed only moments. As we were of no use to anyone we turned around and came home via Tharwa.
Todaqys Telagrath has a wite up if that is of any help.

Apparently the Local Bush Fire brigade were training close by , and were able to get there quick smart , but weren't equiped to deal with vehicle fires (did best as they could until better equiped arrived).

Daily Tele and Canberra Times should have writeups on their websites.

Forgot to say that it was about 5 km north of Williamsdale on the Monaro Hwy, On the northern end of a 900 mt straight with a very slight bend,

G'day Angelo, sure was a bad one, apparently a south bound Pardo veered over to the wrong side and hit a north bound Pajero head on, both vehicles caught fire (not sure which one started it).

It happened at around 1630 between Canberra and Williamsdale in the ACT on a good bit of road with a slight bend. Who and what caused still to be determined.

To the credit of passers by one bloke pulled quite a few victims out of one of the vehicles when is was still on fire, the local Bush Fire mob were in the area on a training run and attended quite quickley.

A full run down is in the local paper in Canberra.

Who ever the passerby who did the pulling out was, he should get an award. We were there a few min afterwards and could NOT get within cooe because of the heat.

Going on the picture on the front of the Canberra Times this morning, the Pajero is on it's side well alight and the Prado is still ok, so I'd say the Pajero caught alight and then the Prado.

Very sad, you can replace a car but not the kids, and to lose your kids in an accident let alone a car on fire would be horrific. It's been playing on my mind since the accident.

Hope the guy whole pulled out the victims gets some help as well as an award, my father was a firefighter when a rescue wasn't totally successful he would always have the "if only I was quicker, tried harder I could have saved everyone" thing start happening.

I can only agree with your Idea Steve re the debrief help. We were not involved but it started to make me think about an hour later as we were going past Lake George. You have been away for a fun weekend & never make it home. Make you think about giving your loved ones an extra HUG before you leave each day

Very sad thing indeed guys. Thanks for the info though.
I am sitting here trying to imagine how i would feel if it happened to my kids....I cant even come close to how I would be feeling. My thoughts are with the father.
I hope the person who pulled them out lives a very long happy life, for me he is a Digger indeed.

Im lost for words really.
