Hi all - this is my first post to the
forum although I have enjoyed visisting it for quite some time now.
My question is about the condition of Big River Road north of 25 Mile
Creek in the Victoria High Country. I am thinking of using it to get to Mt Buller from
Melbourne as I enjoy getting off the beaten track.
How slippery does it get in winter? Are there really steep sections? I have suitable tyres and full recovery gear, but will be travelling with on e car only with the kids and don't want to venture into too difficult a situation.
Thanks
Jan

I can't specifically remember what it's like in winter but I don't think I would recommend driving it in a 2wd car.

Yep, looks like I was not clear enough - defintely not attempting it in a 2wd - I drive a Prado.
Thanks

We were there about 6 weeks ago. Very muddy slippery surface (was also a rainy day). Looks a bit deceptive. Pretty place though. Not sure what it would be like now.

Presuming you mean the road that passes Enochs Point and ends up on the Eildon Jamieson Road. You should have no real difficulty. It gets a bit slippery after rain but is 2wd from north of Enochs Point. It is not really steep just a bit rutted and a little overgrown in spots. Certainly not low range stuff.
