Hi,
Does anyone have any brilliant ideas on where to install long-range fuel tanks, or store extra fuel on a dual fuel 80 Series Landcruiser? The ARB long-range tanks seem to fit where the sub tank was, and the gas tank now is.

We already have 1 spare wheel carrier on the back, so I guess we could fit a maximum of 40L on the other side...

I've got 2 cigar shaped LPG tanks running alonside the chassis rails on my 100 Series and have kept the two standard petrol tanks as well. Loose approx 50mm clearance but I can make that up with a lift.

With my BP card, LPG costs me 39c/l and I still have a good fuel range. Gotta be happy with that!

G'day,
I asked the very same questions when l bought mine earlier this year. I called a few 4B shops - Opp Lock springs to mind. They could supply and fit a large main tank (l think approx 140litres) but the cost was $1200. So l left it as was and carry a jerry on long weekend trips.

However it is preferable to not carry a jerry if possible.

Talking to a mate, he had looked into a bladder that sits in the rear cargo area (literally like a mat) but l haven't seen this. Fuel is pumped into main tank from there. Not sure how many litres, how it's fixed down etc.

The rear bumper mount jerry carrier is an option, but check the legalities. I was told this was not legal in some (maybe all?) states to carry fuel like that.

Cheers

Don't know if it can, but what about a centre belly up over your rear drive shaft. I have a 75 series, to which I installed one of 85ltr capacity. Total fuel capacity 275ltrs petrol/gas.

Hi cut the back off it and turn it into a dual cab, keep the two standard fuel tanks and put a 100lt+ LPG tank in the tray like I did. 145lt ulp and 100lt LPG never looked back. If you put a canopy over the tray even with the gas tank there you will still have more room than a wagon.

Keep in mind that carrying jerry cans 'outside the profile of the vehicle' does not comply with ADR's. Some of the police are targeting this sort of thing (including codan/barratt auto-tune antenna's for the same reason).

Not sure where your heading, but HJ60 can tow a caravan most places between fuel outlets with just two jerry cans (110 litres total).

You should be able to fit a 120 litre LPG tank without major clearance issuesd if you have a small lift.

Keep in mind that a big tank full of fuel will add some weight, behind the rear wheels.
