Hi all,
I am planning a
Simpson desert trip soon and have a question re loading of RA Rodeo dual cab ute for trip in light of reports of incidences of chassis bending.
I estimate my weight at about 750kg including driver and passenger. Plan to load most weight in back
seat and front of tray over wheel arch. Can any one see a problem as I am thinking that people who have been unfortunate enough to experience chassis bending have overloaded vehicle or hit large washouts etc. while loaded.

One of our utes is a 5 year old Rodeo dual cab and it's chassis bent a bit after hitting a washout up north somewhere. The top front edge of the fibreglass canopy had about a two inch gap that wasn't there before and it looked obvious that the chassis was bent. All we did was loosen the six or so bolts that hold the ute tub on, and put in washer spacers (from memory the very back ones had 3/4 inch to make up) ; this aligned the side panel lines up with the cab lines. We've had no further bending but we probably drive more cautious. I don't know what weight we had in the back and we also have a roof rack. Rus.

Rodeos (2000 - 2002 ?) have major chassis issues, quite a few have broken in the middle with medium to high loads or towing. Holden "makes" users
sign an agreement to shut them up if they want it fixed. I have heard of 7 rodeos fail now, just within the small group of people I know.
