I need to buy a new battery isolator switch seeing as my Rotronics MH10 battery isolator thingy died in the arse on our last trip.

What I am looking for is a simple in-cabin switch so that I can isolate the main battery when camped.

Any ideas on what is available?

Willie,
I have always used a simple solenoid system with in-cab switch. You can even rig it up using either a flashing LED to show that it's on or a push-pull switch with a globe in the knob.
This is about as simple as you can get without running 2 huge, heavy duty cables into the cab and using one of those massive switches with the red plastic key.
The solenoid lives on the firewall. It has 2 LARGE bolts (one for a cable to/from each + terminal) and 2 small terminal bolts (one for earth and the other to your switch). I've got all the stuff here, including a spare solenoid, if you wanted to come over we could do it; tooooo easy!!!
Cheers mate

We're going camping this weekend at Burra Gorge with friends from Murray Bridge, Mannum....plus Pesty, Muddy Doh Brew and a few others.
If you want to come over we might be able to do it there and you could camp overnight on the saturday......or go there tomorrow night, as we'll be leaving after work tomorrow.
Otherwise, I'll be home on 13th (but not on 14th....Port Julia for a club meeting). The following weekend we have a club stand at the Kadina Show and the weekend after that we're off to Pt Orgutta for a club trip (power station look-see).
Let me know mate....
Cheers

GOB & denny vic member I had a simular system in my camper but it also had wiring run to a spring switch which would activate the solonoide from the aux battery if main one was stuffed. HOWEVER I have used the solonoid system in the camper and 2 work vehicles an come to the conclusion they are crap as if a battery dies the first you know it is you cant start because your dead battery has thieved the charge from your good one. I have a cole hersy switch now much more reliable and is simple to check and isolate individual batterys. alot of people dont like them and rubish them but - they work

I looked at an in-cabin switch, but it was going to cost about $150. I decided that I could cope with lifting the bonnet when I want to disconnect, so went for the $20 battery disconnect instead.

Battery World seems to sell a number of different options...

Redarc, redarc, redarc.

Yet to see a post of one dying.

$100 bucks or there abouts, cheap at twice the price.
