Installing a CDMA for touring in the Disco and wondered if anyone else had put in a car kit with the cradle. Any ideas on where to put the damm thing without buggering something. It's a 6225 Nokia.

Any pics would be great.

Cheers
John

I mounted mine on the side of the transmission tunnel near where your left knee rests when driving. I made up a block of balsa wood that fitted over the raised edge of the centre console (the wood can be easily shaped to the same profile as the edge of the console) and painted it semi gloss black so it looked like plastic and glued it to the raised edge of the console - that way there are no holes. I then mounted the cradle to the block of balsa - the cables run in the console and come up under the non - slip mat - again no holes are needed - worked fine for me and when I sold the car I just broke off the balsa and used a bit of turps to remove the contact adhesive on the centre console - worked a treat. I put the microphone in the map holder above the sunvisor using velcro and mounted the speaker under the instrument console on the left side of the steering column using double sided tape.

John,

if you have the cradle and dont want to drill into the dash, www.dashmount.com.au have some nice no drill brackets.

cheers,
Sam.

Agree with you there Jeff. Would have been nice for the Nokia 2280.
But it's not too bad where it is, behind 4WD lever next to drivers seat.

And reckon about the same with the Surf (unless power ball comes up).!!!

Can't help with the Nokia 6225.
Bought the Nokia 6255 whicn was/is the? the first bluetooth CDMA and has voice activated dialup. Also purchased a supertooth mobile hands free. I just activate the supertooth which is attached to the sunvisor by pressing a button and with the phone still in my belt holster make a call. I say "Home" and it dials my home phone number which when answered I can conduct a handsfree conversation.

Yeah but that doesn't give you the external antenna then does it?

Jeff,

You are probably right however I haven't looked into it. Had an external aerial on the previous CDMA but it only gave me an extra 10KM radius from the cell. Problem I found on a recent trip was places like Oodnadatta, Birdsville, Inaminka and Camerons Corner don't have a cell anyway. Good to see Tibooburra now has one. Hopefully the Nationals will push a hard line with the Liberals when Telstra is sold off for better coverage outback.

Regards Richard
