tell them the date you require to first enter
the desert month wise, and your permit is valid for the same month next year as
well.
Just had some people 're use" thier desert parks passes from last years July desert trip, [
http://www.lcool.org/trips/double_simpson_2004/simpson_report.html ] for this years july trip, [
hay river from mungerannie] after speaking with the S.A people, who said it was valid for July 04 to end of july 05 if it was marked July.

Jackpot,
the Desert Passes are dated now and last for 365 days. Provided you renew your pass you can do so at a reduced rate($60 I think it was), up to the last date of your old pass using the 1800 number supplied.
You can buy them in the Trading Post at
Innamincka when you get there if you so wish.

Pat,
mine was dated last year for the last date I could renew the 10th of June.
Jackpot, why don't you ring and ask if it is so critical - I have found the people here responsive. You can find the numbers under

A slight hi-jack of your question John but ordered my Desert pass kit through this website - $90 on credit card - and was advised by email it was despatched 26th July.
Hasnt arrived in my secure PO Box yet so I am concerned now that I leave in a week for Simpson. Anyone bought one this way before?
How long does it normally take?
Do you need one for Travel
Birdsville to Big Red (its not in the conservation
park area )
How useful are the maps that come with the pass?

I bought
mine through this site and it arrived in about a week. I think you can specify a start date when you order it.
The desert park info that comes wiht the pass is great, maps are plenty good enough. Don't need a pass for Big Red.
Has your CC been debited yet.

LifeIsGood has confirmed with us today, that he has received his permit - it had been at the
Post Office since the start of August.
Also, you can certainly specify the dates that you would like your pass to start - simply put the date that you would like it to start in the comments field along with a comment requesting this.
This is also the same for renewals. You can renew your permit any time in the lead up to the expiry date - when you place your order you will need to enter your expiry date and we will date the permit 12 months from the expiry date.
If anyone has any questions regarding these or other products, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Juliana
