I have been offered a deal on a near new Garmin GPSMAP 76S for about $600, the guy paid around $800 earlier this year. I admitt that I don't know much about GPS units so am asking learned others if this is a suitable unit and price for my needs. My use is off-road travel and caravaning around main and side roads of Qld.

Any feedback, apart from those with smart a**ed comments would be appreciated.

Yeah - I think $600 is a bit much. I think your friend has been caught out by new model units drving the price down after he brought it. Apart from that - it would be a good unit.

I've got a Map76 and have no probs with it. If you go ahead join Traks4Australia on Yahoo you will get better maps than mapsource can provide.
