G'day all
Wanting to buy 2x 300w pure sine wave
inverters for general use in car/trailer - charging batteries, laptop etc.
Have seen some on ebay around $200 - has anyone had any experience with these or suggest any alternative supplier with good pricing?
ebay
Also seeking opinions on running it off aux or main batt?
cheers
John

I bought a new pure sine wave inverter from eBay earlier this year - worked out heaps cheaper than the cheapest price i could get it from the Internet for the same model. It was my first or second purchase from eBay and i have been hooked every since. Just bought two hard cover novels really cheap - my 26th purchase.
The caravan had a square wave inverter, and following a suggestion from Collyn, instead of replacing it with a bigger and more expensive one, got a 500 watt (1000 w max) pure sine wave one which is more than adequate for the laptop, and left the larger capacity square wave one for charging power tool batteries and the like as we had been doing. They run off the batteries in the caravan and are built in inside a cupboard, with power points on the wall. If we didn't have the van, i think i would run it from the auxiliary battery - but electric stuff is not my field of expertise. I can give you the name of the eBay
shop if you like - just let me know.

G'day John
Here's another ebay sit selling the same thing
http://stores.ebay.com.au/Tomorrow-Concept_Inverter_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQftidZ2QQtZkm
Me "
young bloke" bought a 600W mod squ wave from them and is more than happy with it.
Both ebay sites have what appears to be the same gear as Jaycar and both are word for word descriptions.
Cheers
Rod
PS: would definitately run from the aux battery......don't want a dead starter battery after an overniter
miles from nowhere

Very good prices for sine wave
inverters.
Most sine-wave units are
well-made. It's the modified square wave jobs that need caution as their quality (and even safety) varies hugely. The bigger ones make good mud anchors for small boats!

John
I picked up a 300W inverter (new) on E-bay for $68 +$10 postage. The seller was in Woollongong Uni. I'm using it to power my laptop in my vehicle and have no probs, but then that's all I wanted it for.
Cheers
