I had a steel equiv. to the T1 on my 99 Jack. Hit a roo and the same thing happend. The bolt holes to mount it are elongated to allow for adjustment. The bar "adjusted" back, right into my bonnet. The smash repairer just undid the bolts moved the bar back done and re tightened them to fix it.
At a guess this allows for some absorbtion of the kinetic energy before the air bags deploy which really defeats the purpose of having a big solid bar.

Your nearly right, I drilled an extra hole on each side and chucked in 2x 14mm s/s bolts, it didn't budge the second time!

Hi Scubaroo
Don't know if the bar you are talking about is Alloy or steel but I had the T15 Alloy bat on a Prado and during a 25000km trip in "03.
During the trip we had our new IPF lights fall apart twice and a new UHF arial snap at the base from the vibration.

just go up to 2 vehicles - 1 with Alloy and 1 with steel and give them a wack with the butt of your palm and you will see what I mean.

GO STEEL or regret it...
