Hi peter
You could try a product called RAPIT REPAIR TAPE it is a fibre glass tape with a glue in it ,you just wet it and wrap it around and let it dry.Or you could use rubber patch a coke can and some hose clamps

The only way to repair high pressure lines is to silver solder it. Remember the pressure coming out the pump can do serious damage to yourself if it blows, possibly causing some serious soft tissue injury or if it hits your eye blinding you for life. If it was mine I'd replace the lance altogether.

Steel lance? if so a bit of bronzing will give you a few more years. I got about 3 more years out of mine before the holes outnumbered me and I replaced it.

where exactly is the leak ? what is the brand of Machine ? - as another member has suggested you would be better off buying a new lance , hose clamp , sticky tape , poly filler will not work as there not rated to 1000 PSI + how do i know ? my business -- www.sydneypumps.com.au Not trying to sell you anything ( so dont jump on me people ) just suggesting for safety sake - you replace it.

thanks all for your advise. it is a lavor brand. been a good performer over a few years till this. the lance is a heavy plastic with brass fittings and the leak is just in front of the trigger so it will be a major replacement. will ring and get a quote for a new one tomorrow.
