Just wondering if anybody knows if it is possible to fit a 2.5 Diesel engine into an 86 SWB pajero that was originally a 2.6 petrol??
Cheers Chris

Yes its possible , but wonder why you would.
The cost involved in doing so , would FAR outway the value of the vehicle.
Overcapitalisation springs to mind.

Yes there would be sooo many little things to change, that you wouldnt even think about till you get to it. Might even need to run an extra fuel line depending if the 2.6 had a return line! Exhaust, electrics (glow etc) , throttle cabling, bellhousing?, air cleaner?, dash (tacho)?
Might be easier to start with a half cut and then sell the leftovers after the swap if you were determined!
Matt.

sell the car buy a new one.
you will need
a fuel cap
inlet fuel pipe
all the flexible feul lines changed.
new filters
different diffs
different inlet shaft ...or exchange gear box.
different flywheel and clutch.
new eletrics
alternator will need need a vacuum pump put on it.
power steering pump will need to be changed for the lower idle speed.
new engine mounts
different radiator.
you can manually put a kill cable on the motor and pop a mercedes starter, glow ,kill cable on the dash that will save a lot of hassle and money
honestly just buy a new car it will only cost you $ 4 grand to import one in from japan landed.

Ok so it seems nothing but a pain in the arse to put a diesel in, i only wanted it for more torque on uphill work, so now im getting to thinking how about i put a v6 in it?? anyone done this or know of reasons why this is a bad idea??
