Has anyone ever used any of the quality inflatable kayaks that are currently on the market? They seem to start around the $800 mark and go upwards of $2000

I have a Coleman Infatable (2xman) which I like alot.
the benefits of the inflatable one is that it packs away into small bag (about the same size as a sleeping bag including paddles) and can be blown up in less than 5 mins.....
cople of things that i've learnt is that 1x must be pumped up 'full' to ensure a comfortable ride, and that you don't sink!.... and that it doesn't go too
well when it's really windy as it gets blown around easily..
all in all.. very happy with it!..
from memory cost was less than $300 .. Coleman Warranty (12 months i think) plus about $30 for the 'suggested' pump goes like the clappers.
i'd highly recommend it.

Pete, I've been a kayaker (sea/river/estuary) for a few years and there are so many different types of kayaking. Some are happy to paddle around a lake/
lagoon whilst at the other end of the spectrum you have whitewater or serious sea kayaking. Then, there are canoes. Decide what you want to do, then buy the kayak that does the job.

Hi Peter my wife an i have done a lot of research and found you can't buy a good Kayak for 2 under about $1400 for a inflatable. We came across a usa site
http://www.seaeagle.com/ so we ordered se330 delux model which will do a grade 3 river which is good or you can go higher. You can buy them in nz for $900 + delievery it cost us a little under $800 at our door including tax. We have open it only and it is very thick skin and all can be put in a bag and put in the boot ( try doing that with the others) Pumping them up is a small price to pay when you can throw it in the boot. Have a look for your self.

Hi Peter,
We've had a Stearn double for about 4 years now. We use it when we go to
Coral Bay or anywhere else where ther is still
water. It's stable, easy to set up, robust and easy to paddle. We have had hours of fun in it and would recommend it if you have similar uses in mind. It is stable enough to slip into the
water from and to climb aback into if you want to snorkle/swim. It's been a very good investment on our behalf. A google search will find what you need. Ours currently sells for about $1200 from the local
camping store.
