Just finished reading the most informative Marie Claire magazine and the thinly veiled attack on 4wds. Can you see whats behind you the article even goes on to contradict itself. Good for a laugh or wiping your $$$$ on not sure which one yet. Check it out if you can .Tex

"Marie Claire Magazine" Isn't that a Sheila's rag?
Should answer the question wouldn't you think?

He must have been in a Doctor's waiting room. There is no other excuse for reading such a rag, and even that's a little flimsy.

Isn't it bad form to flame a publication without supplying some extracts as evidence that it deserves flaming?

good point. the article is slagging off 4wds in particular but uses the example of a child falling out the side door of a meteor
sedan to put the point accross that reversing sensors would have saved her. I know it would be horrendous to run over your or someone elses child. but how would sensors on the rear of a vehicle save you if you fell out the side door and were run over by the drivers side front wheel. The child was 3 and the parent did not even do the
seat belt up or check if it was done up. the article then went on about how dangerous 4wd's are because you cant see behind them then continued on about the increased damage in collisions etc. It did have a few good points but was a thinly vieled attack on 4wd's using an accident involving a car and the parents failure to actually check if the doors were closed and the childs seatbelt done up before they drove off, to wind the emotions up at the start of the article. I checked the web site but there is nothing to link to on it and I dont know if my soliciter is good enought to scan the article and post it here

Unfortunately my neighbour did back over a one year old about three weeks ago when she was reversing out of a small car
park. This incident didn't even make the evening news. She was in a Nissan, but the Nissan was a PULSAR, so probably not news worthy. The consequences for our neighbour (the driver) and the mother of the child were horrendous. The child was seriously injured and air lifted to Westmead, but has survived and I believe is now home. The shock and guilt of both women was severe. The mother had left her four year old in charge of the one year old while she packed gear into her car. She won't be doing that again.
Moral of the story, even thou it was a serious incident with a child being run over in a car
park, because a 4WD wasn't involved it wasn't deemed news worthy.

problem is if they did report it they would say the child only survived because a 4WD wasn't involved so either way 4WD's get the blaime
