Hi all :)
Tomorrow I'm going to remove the pressure pipe from the turbine to the inlet manifold's plenum chamber in order to get the rocker cover off to do the tappets.
The turbo is an aftermarket Dynamic (DTS) unit. The pressure pipe over the rocker cover is cast alloy and is bolted to the plenum chamber with 4 large allen-head bolts. Does anyone know (before I take it off to see) what sort of gasket or seal I might be going to break? Do I have to replace any gaskets that might be hard to get.... or will a universal paper gasket cut to size work and sealed with gasket goo work? The turbo's only pushing around 8 pound - so I suppose that it isn't critical.
Any ideas?
Cheers and thanks for any advice
Chris

Toyotas use a metal gasket which doesn't break when you take it apart. With a bit of luck yours will be the same.
Cheers

Cheers Phil
I would have thought that it had one too. I guess I'll see today.

Nope, the gasket isn't metal it's paper/cardboard/whateveritismadeof. On the intercooler I fitted a couple of weeks ago the owner just bought one off Nissan. I don't know how much it was but it couldn't have been too expensive. On the 1st GU intercooler I built I bought one I thought was the right one off their computer but it was the next join along from the inlet manifold and wouldn't you know it the bolt centres were just a little different, still it only cost about $5 so it wasn't the end of the world.
Regards Andrew.
