Mattie,
I strongly suggest you do not join the growing list of fools that tow trailers in the type of conditions you would encounter on the
border track. Have a think about the mess you will make of the track towing the extra
wheels and weight. Have a think about the inconveniece to other track users when you get stuck and block the track this selfish behaviour.
After that if you still want to go have a think about the narrow scratchy sections that you will encounter and perhaps that will dissuade you.
If your reason is simply to joint the boastfull crowd that think they are oh so tough because they have ignored all these issues and done something most reasonable thinking people chose not to do I suppose it is a free country.

Mattie, the steep sections all have chicken tracks around them, so take it easy, dont try to climb stuff you even maybe think you cant and you should be OK. Theres heaps to be seen there, and if you don't act like the fool Mainy is talking about you wont be seen to be one.

Mattie,
4x4 Australia ran an article called border conflict in which Ron and Viv Moon did the trek towing a Jurgens Oryx trailer. It seems to have gotten through OK. Ron is sure to have followed Tread Lightly Principles I am certain.
I remember the article in the original mag but i now have it in a special mag called "4x4 Australia presents Escapes"
Ron writes a good account of the trip with maps, sighseeing info and other useful information. He starts at
Mildura and travels the track southwards.
I could probably scan and send the article to you if required....

Sorry Mattie,
That date info is not on the mag.
Escapes 2005 No2
It also has a title "25 Incredible Off-Road Adventures"
I don't have the original magazine article just the special magazine.
I found this site on Moonie's site

I guess you really meant down the
Border Track as it is one way - North to South
We did it in November and one of the Hiluxes in our group had a ADD failure which meant it was 2wd only. We couldn't fix it and only found the problem once on the trip.
Hilux in 2wd on cold/damp at times sand and only snatched twice. We had left a camper in
Murrayville to pick up on the way back but in hind sight we could have towed it down no problem.
