HI guys
I do not know if anyone has had this problem before, but here is a heads up before someone else just goes through the fun I have had. You know the little compartment where the jack, tools and 2 jack extension bars are.. yep, cool. Have you ever noticed that there is nothing to stop those extension bars going forward in between your panels?
During a recent desert crossing, one of those bars decided the corrugations were too much and slipped forward. Now the bars were clipped in and strapped down, but one of them still slipped forward. At let me tell you it isn’t much fun getting it out.
Process of removal, involves the following. Remove BBQ, Fridge, Recovery draw, food draw, draw system and fridge slide, undo the side panel, unclip thoughs little white clips that never come out easily. Then find there is no way to reach inside... Spy down, see bar through a tiny gap and scratch head.. Remove rear tail light and see bar through slightly bigger tiny gap. Get a coat hanger and make a hook, and from the inside tiny gap lift the bar up to a spot where some one helping you can get their fingers on the bar. Person out side holds it till you get there, not want to damage the panel, every thoughtful, now you try and get it through the tiny gap to no avail. Lift bar and try and push it the other way. Hold it there. Other person hopes inside and find a sticky black rubber patch and rips that off. As I hold it and push it the other way, other person with smaller hands is able to grab it and get it out.
Handy hint, remove the bars permanently, I have now put them in the recovery draw that is sitting on the floor of the garage...

Thanks for
the tip Craze - valuable - hasn't happened to
mine yet but I can
well see them going the way you describe, on really rough tracks. Might take them, plus the jack handle out (will leave the Jack - too fat to go anywhere) - might put them under the back
seat in that covered storage compartment - currently has 2 spare shocks, belts and hoses - these might just squeeze in !

Yes I lost
mine but didn't know it was in the panel, till I took the panel of to change some wiring. Very relieved to have it back. I carry 2 jacks these days, but I can see it could be a trap for
young players.
Happy
trails, Mike.

Hi guys.
I solved the problem of my handles sliding forward by filling the space betwixt the guard and inner pannel with expanding foam and then, when it was dry, I shoved the handles into it, then I cut a section out for the jack to sit in. . . . then I got an exhaust jack, so now it keeps my fishing reels from being knocked round!
