Rough calc - 31x10.5x15 is about 100 litres.

For 2 bar (29psi) in the tyre, that is equivelant of 100 litres to pump at atmospheric pressure, or 150 litres to pump for 2.5 bar(36 psi).
(1 bar is atmospheric pressure which is about 14.5psi)

Taking 10 to 12 minutes to pump up the tank with a capacity of 12 litres to 100psi (6.9 bar) says it all. That is about 80 litres of air by my calcs, which you gives you about 1.7bar (25psi) in the tyre. Pump output volume drops as pressure increases too. Your going to wait a while for the other 7 psi to get to 32 psi since it will need to pump about 40 litres of air against the pressure in the tyre. Well, you know what I mean if you are working at atmospheric pressure. Trying to keep it simple :-).

Tank is a good size however for filling one standard car tyre, then waiting another 10 minutes for another tyre.

Those figures sound right?

Those figures look pretty good, however your basing them on Chinese specs written on the box which mean bugger all. I've seen that compressor and it's got the same compresor mounted to the tank that I had under the bonnet before the Blue Tounge. It's Crap basically. Those figures only count (if that) when the compressor is cold, as soon as it's done a little work it SLOWS RIGHT DOWN. I went through two of them (they crapped themselves) before I chucked it in the bin, kissed my money goodbye and then went and bought a decent brand compressor.

I have a 24L 240V air compressor in the garage and when it's charged to 120psi it barley get's my 31x10.5xR15's from 30psi to 42psi without having the crank the compressor up and start recharging the tank (at about 70psi it kicks in). Even @ 70psi the infalation rate (equalising of the tank and tyre) is very slow.

ie, I'd leave it on the shelf.

$249????

For not quite double that I bought the Ox 12v compressor..... (Paid $400) takes about 5minutes each to pump my 33 X 12.5 Pro Comp muddies from 18psi to 40psi. I originally had a Supercheap unit..... got about 6 pump-ups outta it before it fritzed in a cloud of smoke!

A lot of people selling compressors list a flow rate, I'd say the 50 l/min is the free air flow, many list this, makes the compressor appear better than it is.
you get what you pay for......

Yes it was lovely to see them - albeit briefly, but both of them were sick as - with the lurgy -hopefully, the warm sea air in Mackay has made them well again. You are a good boy, Nick, to work such long hours to enable your father to play at his 'other' job in Melbourne!!!! (My other life was in the same business!!!)

The big thing everyone is forgeting....these compressors are made for airbrush or paint guns. not mechanical workshops.

I have a compressor which states 70l p/m.
My mate has a compressor which states 70l p/m.
They look almost identical.

His pumps almost twice as fast as mine (18 to 38).
His is a genuine MAX AIR @ $350.00, and mine is a copy @ $149.00
He is finished, packed up, and standing around with a beer in hand checking out the scenery while I still have 2 tyres to go !!!

Once again..... wise old indian saying

GOOD THING NO CHEAP
