I was wondering if anybody has developed a checklist they use for camping/extended trips and would you be willing to share it.
I am planning on a departing on a 24-day
Cape York Trip in September and have just started checking all my gear in preparation and would like to compare what other people take to see if i have missed anything.

Grubz
Check out the "Topic Search " column on the left, under
camping gear,
what to take, it may give you some ideas and a comparison.

Hi Grubz,
I use two lists; one for weekends, one for longer trips. Someone else's list could be mostly irrelevent for you exept for the obvious like your tent etc. Make a list of all the
camping gear you own for starters. Next take some time to think about everything you would do in a day from opening your eyes in the morning 'til closing them at night, ie getting in and out of your tent; we take an old towel to wipe our feet on at the tent entrance. Much of the list comes from experience and personal preference also how much gear you can carry. We take alot of gear others may think is a waste of space; like those wooden fold-up dish racks (wooden take that!), nylon rope and pegs instead of hanging wet towels and boardshorts on the tent poles. Lots of 'little things' like that which we think make our trips a little less stressful and more organised. We enjoy cooking so even though we have
camping bowls, pots, plates and cutlery, we take other things from our kitchen like a chopping board, a good knife, condiments etc. There are also the things that are easy to forget; extra batteries, the can-opener, mantles for the lantern, the pump for the air-mattress, the tap for the
water container, matches, lighter, fire-starters. I once forgot the connecting hose for the gas cooker because it was on the home bbq! What made it worse was we were camped on the West coast of Fraser Island and it was a long round trip to the East coast to buy a new one. I took the cylinder to make sure I bought the right hose and when we got back to
camp we had left the gas cylinder at the store on the other side of the island! Being unorganised can turn your holiday into an endurance test.

Grubz,
I use a list and have another from someone else that is extremely comprehensive. These days, using a list, I never forget anything. They're a great tool.
If you put up your email address I'll send them to you.
Cheers,
Jim.
