Coming home with the caravan, when there was a TWANG, and we lost some power. A hose of some sort had come off (i'm not mechanical). I haven't heard of this happening. Lucky we weren't out in the never never.

Motherhen. This happenned to me, yes out in the never never!! about 60 k's south of Roeburn. It was a simple case of removing the plastic cover over the engine, re-connecting the hose and tightening up the hose clamp.

Do you have an intercooler?

Check those pipes as well as you will get a similar power drop if you loose any of the intercooler hoses.

I speak from experience :-)))))

Happened to me too about two weeks ago coming back from a trip. As I had had this happen before I knew where to look and five minutes later I was back on the road. Didn't check the other hoses so better do that this weekend.

Brother had the same thing happen to him on his GU 3L TD, however this was just after it had been in for it's "tighten everything up" service not long after taking delivery of it.... They were 250km out of Perth at the time
Dealer said that the apprentice had done the work. Even so, I thought work would still be checked before going out.

That's all they seem to have working in those workshops!! (apprentices!).

The Wife's going back to work in a week and her company car (BA Falcon) has just been dropping the kids off etc while she's been on maternity leave so I thought I'd give it a bit of a once over yesterday. It's only done 33k and I've noticed it blowing a bit of blue smoke in the mornings when she takes off!! So I blew out the air cleaner, checked all the fluids (as it's already had one coolant leak fixed and it's leaking again!). I then checked the oil, it was SO OVER FULL I thought I had forgot to wipe the dipstick!! I wiped it again, put it back in, the whole dip stick has oil on it again???? I did it again! Nope, it was just THAT OVER FULL.

Serviced reguarly by the local ford dealer, thanks guys good work... I spose that's one way to sell new cars, just fill them to buggery so they blow all the seals before 100k... Like I said to her, probally the apprentice doing the work, has NFI what he's doing and probally doesn't give a bleep either.

Don't worry about the apprentice doing the work - worry about what the tradesman has told the apprentice "not to worry about" ... ! and .... the apprentice might be more careful than half the tradesmen anyway there anyway .....
