Can anybody out there throw any light on the possibility of fiting LPG to a Falcon BA station wagon. Ford people do not recommend it, they only talk about petrol only or dedecated LPG, not dual fuel. I have approached 7 installers here in Adelaide and got conflicting stories and very disparate prices eg some state that there is no kit availabel, those that say that they can do it quote prices from $2500 to $3900.
If it can be done which make kits would be preferable and what would be a realistic price?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

1. It could be to cover them self If something should go wrong with the motor.
2. They could be telling you the truth and the engine just will not preform properly on LPG, By that I mean the internal part’s may suffer increased wear, some engines just will not take LPG I know some chev engines don’t like it, maybe this is why ford have made dedicated LPG Falcon’s with a engine specifically built for gas.

Stony, more Fords are converted to LPG than any other vehicle. You are better off with dual fuel rather than dedicated LPG for the extra range and lets face it, when your used to LPG you're loath to use Petrol unless you have to. On my GQ petrol/LPG I'll run it for 10 kms on petrol at every fill just to keep the system clean.
The guys next door are LPG fitters and they told me the aftermarket kits are better than the dedicated LPG one from Ford.
They've also had a LPG gas vapour injection system on a BA Falcon in for evaluation on their dyno. It was a system being developed by Vic Autogas here in Melbourne. They are an Impco wholesaler who sell to the guys next door.
Regards Andrew.

Have a look at
http://www.lpgas1.com.au/ford_lpg_list.shtml

The more expensive system are Sequential Vapour Injection (S.V.I.) system
which whould give better economy...

At my work we have hundreds of BA wagons and sedans on gas around Aust. We have just dropped the dedicated gas from Ford and going back to petrol because they spent more time on the back of a towtruck and in the Ford dealership ( sometimes for more than a week at a time ).
Also we couldnt get gas from the servos when it got to around 40degrees. You might be ok with an after market dual fuel and suggest strolling past a taxi rank to get the best feedback
