Hi all, have a dilemma in as much as the old 2F won't pull as hard as I want. I have an off road camper that seems to pull the guts out of the 2F. Do I Engine mod to a v8 or do I stick to a 2F and rebuild? Can I get decent power out of a 2F Motor?
Any advise greatly appreciated.

I had a 2f in my old fj45 ute. It went ok with a holley 350 and extractors but GUZZLED the fuel.

Hi,
My son has an FJ40 soft top and when he brought it the 2F engine in it was very tired. In the short term he has done a rebuild on the 2F but like previously mentioned it likes a drink and in the longer term he is going to install a V8 he recently purchased, although I suspect it might like a drink of juice as
well.
With the rebuilt 2F engine he regularly tows our camper trailer and his car copes
well with it. In fact he has it away on a weeks holiday at
Double Island Point as we speak.
His reason for making the change is because he has spent a fortune on customising the 40 series and he reckons the job isn't complete without putting in a V8. The V8 he has purchased is a small block chev. The only piece of gear he has to get as yet is the adapter kit for engine to gearbox.
The only comment I could make is that it has cost him a few bucks along the way to do this so be prepared to
fork out a bit even if you do the work yourself. The chev V8 is a very simple engine to work on which is great.
Have a good one.

Brian,
many thanks for the insight. With the cost of fuel these days, it is always in the back of the mind as to how much i will drink, but our hobbies never come cheap. How will the chevy go for torque? vs the 2F with bucket loads?
