I recently enquired at a local store about oil filters for my vehicles. the store had baldwin filters at a great price. well over half the price of other brands. being one who believes that ifs it to good to be true it probably isnt i am wondering if anyone has any information on the quality of baldwin fliters. they make the complete range. oil, air and fuel. some internet surfing indicates they are good quality products but some first hand information would be appreciated.
thanks

Provided the filters are made in the USA, they are a real quality job.

They are OEM in the states to many companies.

If you look at long filters, you will see they are a double drawn canister which is a sign of real quality, and their paper is real high temperature.

Gday Peter
Not sure if this helps but baldwin scored pretty good in THIS TEST, FILTERS
It is a very interesting read and I have had a few customers of mine throw their uni filters and K&N filters out once they had read this, including one of my mechanics.
We use now and have for a few years now AC Delco oil filters and air filters in customers cars or genuines. Haven't had a drama in three years.
The only thing is I don't know what the No Name brand was but it did pretty well anyway.
Cheers

I second that statement, they are economical and decent quality, look at any tests and comparisons.

It is important to check that any aftermarket filters match the vehicle manufacturers specs.

A few years ago I went to buy a replacement fuel filter for the old GQ. I was offered a well known and respected brand. Looking at the box it had no specs on it so I asked the guy at the shop. He rang the manufacturer who at first could not tell us the spec it was manufactured to. He finally came back with "about 10 micron". The Nissan spec is 5 micron. I then told the sales guy I did not want it. He said "how about the ......" . A not so well known but well respected brand. It was couple of bucks cheaper and 5 micron. Just what the Nissan engineer ordered.

Actually the Nissan engineer would have liked me to spend a lot more money for the same filter, but that's another story.

Baldwin flters are great. They are used on all kinds of heavy equipment and are the only one that will actually back up thier warranty claims. As stated they are also O.E.M for alot of well respected U.S machinery and autos.Genuine filters are a blatant rip off and are nothin but thieves as all Nissan,Nissan U.D Trucks, Hino and Isuzu filters are all made by Sakura who also make thier own filters but are at least 1 third the price. All new car warranties are still valid even if you use non genuine filters as it is against the trade practices act to state that you must use a certain brand of filter to retain your warranty.
