We are wanting to do a trip across the
gunbarrel highway July 2006. East to West Three vehicles and off road camper trailers with a tinny on one trailer. Would appreciate feedback regarding pulling trailers and info from travellers who might have done the trip with trailers etc.

It is a
long flat track(or tracks) passing through some low scrub, scattered gums and desert oak trees. Eleven years ago, when I drove it, there were trillions of corrugations and a number of items on my truck shook loose or fell apart and I had to do some roadside maintenance. The Gunbarrel Hwy has never been maintained. The grader does go as far as
Carnegie Station maybe once a year coming from
Wiluna. So make sure all the nuts and bolts on you vehicles are tightened up with locktite or something similar and do carry some spare shockabsorbers and
suspension bushes. Enjoy!!! :o)

Thanks Sparra,
Its sounds like the trailers will be OK with sensible driving, I guess its just a case of taking your time and enjoying the scenery after all thats why we are going.

Did the trip in 2003,
ruogh and corrugated is an understatement but
well worth it beautiful country ,
make sure ya trailers are good and strong and
well maintaned ,get a transit permit to travell the old section of the Gunn barrel that the black fellas closed off years ago ,ita a good drive soft sand no corrugations like the other section cos there,s no traffic and its the best part of the trip
camp on it and enjoy .
