I was in a reputable camping store this afternoon and was looking at water jerries.
I looked at a 10 litre jerry can and it was $12.99.
I went over to Supercheap and they had the exact same brand for $6.99 so I bought 2 of them.
I also bought there $16.99 12v 9w fluro light. It may only last 1 trip but it may last longer. What have I got to lose if it gets damaged by one of my kids? Only 16 bucks and not 100 bucks like the big brands. After all it has the same globe as the others. Time will tell.

Agree about the jerry cans but with the light the call you need to make is whether it will last one trip or half a trip and whether it's a convenience item or something you have to rely on and use every day.

At the end of the day its only a light and if it does pack it in I'm sure between the dolphin, the maglite, the gas lantern, I think I should get through.

I carry a decent 12v flouro so I can rely on it and not have to worry about carring too much extra stuff taking up valuable space.

I think the jerries are a great pick up. The fluro's however not sure. Your comments about being the same light as the big brands is not accurate. The more expensive brands are 12V 11w..........they throw the same light as a 75w globe and only draw 1amp. $50 from supercheap will buy an arlec or primus sell one for about $60. Hope this helps.

I bought a $20, 12v, 9 Watt light yesterday, tested it last night and returned it today...... yes, you can guess why, but it looked good.
