It's the 'build-up" time. This is the time people 'go troppo'. From my sister's experience [she lived there for the last 20 years....
well Derby.. near enough] this is the worst time of the year. Of course when 'the wet' hits, you can't move around so
well. This is what the weather is 'building-up' to!
Still ... go for the experience. It's bluddy hot any time I reckon.
cheers Royce

:-(
Why has no one mentioned the @#$%^& HUMIDITY
Why do you think it's referred to as the slo season...?
and remember the local time is "
Broome time", if it happens it's a bonus
if it dosn't
well too bad, maybe it just wasn't meant to

I live 20 km north of
Broome (off the
Cape Leveque Rd).
Impossible to totally predict Dec weather as it depends on when the Wet starts. It is likely howver to be 34-36 degrees and typically humid: likely to have sun all day every day.
Some years, including last) there was no rain. Most years the heavy falls are January onward. Can be freak days at 40 degrees or even plus - but rare in Dec.
Some possibility of a cyclone, but again most are a bit later.
Sun is very hot. It is essential to cover up.
If you don't mind the heat Dec is a very good time to be up here - few people, plenty of space to park etc. Ample
places to
camp.
If planning Xmas here book
well ahead for Xmas dinner as the locals traditionally eat out. In many ways it's our favourite time of year!
Trust this helps but happy to respond further

Thanks Collyn
I was in
Townsville and
Cooktown a few years ago for all December, I imagine it to be much the same in
Broome weather wise that time of year.
Just for the exercise, would the beginning of November in
Broome really be any different than early December?
I could change my plans and go in November if there is going to be a big difference.
Cheers

It's a lot to do with how much you are bothered by heat - but we live very happily (helped a fair bit by being only 400 metres from the sea) without air-conditioning. Not a lot of difference between Nov and Dec unless the rains come early.
Coopes's advice re stingers is worth regarding - many locals ignore it (as indeed does my wife) but I think it's pushing one's luck.
Basically
Broome is such a lovely town that it's ALWAY good up here.
Prejudiced -who me? Nah!

No worries Collyn
We have a aircond unit organised in a group of 8 with a
pool. Sounds like I'll leave things as is and travel up about Dec 10.
So moving on to another subject 'things to see' what do recommend?
I'll be with the Mrs and 3 kids aged 4 - 8 who all love adventure and a look a round. Have a 4x4 so what are the must do's and do nots over a 7 night stay?
cheers
