We're home :(

We've had the most fantastic holiday and it's hard to pick a highlight, but I'll try to list a few..

1. Camping at Welford NP by the Barcoo - simply lovely.

2. The sunset at Karumba Point - stunning

3. Kingfisher Camp - Bowthorn Station - was a great discovery, if you're in the area and looking for a great campspot - this is the place.

4. The drive from Kingfisher to Adels Grove - fantastic.

5. The Gorge and Lawn Hill NP - the most beautiful place I've seen. The canoeing was great fun, but the swim to the waterfall better.

6. The Waterhole at Adels Grove - what fun we had, especially the kids in rubber tubes down the gentle rapids.

7. Birdsville - Ruth and Big Red. It was great fun driving up Big Red - I did it 3 times and had a ball. Ruth you simply are the best, thanks so much for all you did for us, our desert bbq at big red was a brilliant.

9. Innamincka - what a beautiful special place that is, two days was simply not long enough, we wanted to stay longer.

9. The people we met, especially the people at the Toompine and Cameron's Corner Pubs who were fantstic with the kids, and Duncs at Broken Hill, who took the time to show us around the BH firestation - the kids loved it...thanks Duncs!

10. Laughter and campfires - we had plenty of those, special thanks to Gavin who made me laugh with some of his photographic exploits - can't wait to see the pics, and our 3 youngest adventurers - James, Tegan and Callum who were great espcially given that some of the drives long and the hikes hot, you were joys and it was great to share so much with you.

and finally Glenn, thanks for the fantastic trip, his first tag-along tour, it simply was the best, it's sad it had to end, but there's always next time.

cheers

Lyn

Hi Karsten,

We did drop in, we walked around there from the pub the first night we were there, Jackie was there and we had some hot chocolate and sat by the fire while the kids were playing with the toys. Wolfgang was there too and his LC was in the back yard as it had been collecting wood. We were the weekend all the asphalting works were happening, we called around the next afternoon too, but you guys were closed, shall be back again and no doubt will call around again.

cheers

Sounds like a great trip :) and I like that piccie from on top of Big Red.

Would love to have a chat with you guys re: the ins and outs of doing such a trip with a young family. We will be doing something similar next year and would welcome some advice on the best way to get by with young kids.
