No- but know the 2kva won't do what the honda can eg-run caravan aircon. Believe its limited to 2kva, the honda can exceed its rating for a short period, long enough to start the compressor on caravan aircon units anyway.

yep, the kipor will only deliver 2000 watts peak, if youre lucky, the honda 2 will supply 3.2kva for a short burst to supply high start current devices, then supply 2kva all day long, perfect for caravan air con units.

pay the extra and get a known quality unit like the honda.

I've got a Kipor 1KVA. Great gennie so far. Very quiet and runs on the smell of an oily rag. A genuine competitor to the Honda IMO.
Before I bought it, I did a bit of web based research. They are big sellers in North America and Europe. I found heaps of positive comments on overseas forums.

Heaps cheaper than the Honda as they are trying to establish a presence in Aus.

On ebay recently a 3kva Kipor went for $1350 brand new. They are often there across the 1, 2 and 3kva sizing. As previously said, they don't spin out at start to cover the initial draw of a vans aircon. From memory the 3kva only supplies 2.6 at start.

Great value from a quality company.

Hi there,

I have a vested interest in the kipor's as i sell them. As stated by previous people they have a lower initial start up than the Honda. When i was testing them on a customer's split system air con unit the Honda EU2000i (2kva) would run it with it's eco throttle on. The kipor wouldn't start it with eco throttle on but with the eco throttle off (so running at high revs) started it no worries.

They are fractionally louder than the Honda's but tend to be slightly more fuel efficient.

The one thing to be aware of is who is importing the unit. There are about 3 importers of these now and each unit is individually numbered and must be returned to that importer for warranty if by chance something should go wrong.

Primus are one of the importers and are slowly getting a service dealer network set up around the country.

Powerlite are another importer, they just deal with generator's and have been doing so in aus for 36 years. They have an exsisting network of dealers and even include NZ, TAS, and PNG.

Another Importer currently selling on ebay is an individual retail outlet and all warranty issues must be returned to their shop, at least that's what i've been told.

This is just my oppinion but so far we have found them to be exceptional units in the 6 months selling them and have had very few problems.

Cheers, ToNy!

The first listed importer has a very high return rate on them , large % dont even get out the door after a basic test.

2nd importer is ceasing to bring them in due to high returns and failures.

i personally say , you get what you pay for with generators.

Thank you for your replies. This has answered all my questions. A Honda or Yahama seem to be the way to go.
