Hi Folks,
I note that there are several hire places in Tawonga (South). Being first timers from the tropics, which places would any of you regulars recommend?
Many thanks.

you could try these places.

www.rockyvalley.com.au
located in Mt Bueaty which is next to Tawonga
03-57541118

Kiewa Valley Ski Hire Tawonga south
03-5754 4000

Gebi's in Falls Creek
03-57583222

There are a couple more places that I know hire chains there but they are not listed in the Phone book as doing so.

If you have time there is a good drive up to Mount Emu which can be seen from Tawonga where the hang gliders take off from. Not a bad drive with a bit of snow driving as a bonus if the current weather holds. A predicted top of minus 1 for today I hear on the radio.

cheers

Thanks Madcow. Do you recommend any of these in particular? I imagine all the prices will be similar but I am looking more for efficient service so we are not delayed unnecessarily.

Dont quote me but I am sure Rocky Valley is a pickup point for people wanting to take a bus to the snow and leave their cars in Mt Bueaty. As I live in Wodonga I have not used any of them as a mate has chains I usually borrow.
Chains are around $15 per day but I imagine they would be cheaper for a longer term. If you have a diesel I would seriously consider filling up close to the snow with alpine diesel if that's what your driving.

There are a few places to hire gear from. There is one ski hire shop in Tawonga and 5 in Tawonga South which is about 6km's further on next to Mt Beauty. Rocky Valley Ski Hire is actually in Tawonga South and the Pyles Coach terminal is at the Caltex servo. This is where you can park your car and catch the bus up the hill but the roads are nice and clear at the moment. Hired some gear at Ski Plus last Sat and was very happy with it. Near new and new equipment.
