what a pack of morons. What sort of bleep in moron would attempt a river flowing that fast? I'd love to have seen them get washed away!

Thanks Moggs. Seems there will still be enough to get bogged & build igloos in next weekend :-)

For the record, we followed those guys down to the
river crossing. They were not part of our crew, but it was very entertaining to watch.
The first guy that was winched out opened the door and let a fair amount of
water out of the car. All of those guys have winch lines or snatch straps attached before they entered the river. All where petrol cruisers, running 35" muddies or centipedes.
None of our Overlander Crew even contemplated crossing the river.

Hi,
Was up there this weekend with a few guys. The snow was ok, but the roads were pretty much free of snow.
Personally, I would wait for the next big cold freeze before I went up there again. Hopefully it will happen again this season.

Just to add to this,
Mt Skene is 1570 metres at
the summit. Other mountains like
Lake Mountain and Mt Baw Baw are similar.
A good indication would be the amount of snow at these mountains. I know they are in different mountain ranges and affected by different weather patterns, but its an indication.
The guys with us, went up last year also, when there was over a metre of snow. They were very dissappointed this year, and there was really only snow right at the top.
