I recently sold my Ski Boat and have decided to get something smaller and easier to use, (read slower). My original idea was to get a small aluminium boat suitable for 2 adults and kids with about 10-15 hp outboard.
The use was mainly being able to chuck it in the river here on weekends and then be able to take it down south to the rivers and estuaries along WA's south coast. I wanted to be able to either be able to put it on the roof or on my box trailer or camper trailer as
well.
As with all plans they never work out the way you planned, a mate of
mine has offered me the chance of a 3.8mt Ridgid Inflatable with Canopy and 15 Hp Johnson Outboard all hardly used and
well looked after. Cost is less than half of new one.
Beside all the dimensional stuff that i can work out has any one had any experience with these types of boats? And are they any good for what i want to do?

I have a inflatable with a 25hp on it. In my opinion go the inflatable, way more stable
and easy entry and exit for diving etc. They are extremely flexible.
We use ours for fishing, diving wakeboarding and tow in surfing. They don't put out much of wake for wakeboarding but they are awesome in the surf.
3.8. metre is suitable for two adults and up to two small kids and will handle the kids jumping about with ease you really dont have to worry about capsizing and even if you do it is possible to right them again and provided the motor starts off you go.
Downside is the pontoons. Aluminium will last a lot longer.
Expect about ten years of sun and surf and the pontoons will be on the way out.
Good luck
